Q&A with Cory Joseph of Findlay Prep

Excerpt:

You guys were undefeated last season and you’re undefeated again so far this season. What are your impressions of the team thus far?

Cory: We’re learning quick and our team is deep. We use the full ten guys, we’re playing hard, and we’re competing every game. We’re just trying to take it step by step, one game at a time. We aren’t looking into the future, we’re just focused on the next team. Today we’ll focus on today’s team, and we’ll worry about tomorrow’s team tomorrow.

You guys have accomplished everything there is to accomplish at the high school level, winning the National Championship. How do you guys stay hungry so that you can do it again this year?

Cory: We’ve got a new set of guys and this is a new season. I’ve taken on a different role this year so it’s a new challenge. We want to do the same things we did last year. We just have to work hard, take it step by step, and make sure we keep getting better and better.

Tell me a little bit about your new role?

Cory: I’m taking on more of a leadership role. We don’t have Avery or any of those older guys around anymore, so now it’s my turn. I’ve got to be a mentor to the younger guys and make sure they know what coach is looking for. I’m also a point guard, so I’ve got to make sure everyone gets their touches, make sure no one is mad, and make sure everyone is playing the way they should be playing.
