Roscoe Smith Having Second Thoughts About UConn?

When Calhoun was out, Smith admitted to having “doubts” about his commitment. He still has not signed his Letter of Intent.

“The situation with Calhoun is a big factor because that’s the main reason why I’m going to UConn,” Smith said Friday night after scoring 14 of his 18 points in the second half as Oak Hill Academy beat Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick, 79-78, in an ESPNU game at Kean College’s Harwood Arena.

Enes Kanter to Kentucky? Terrence Jones?

Sources are reporting that Enes Kanter has opted out of his commitment to Washington and opened it back up.

Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports reports that Kentucky is recruiting him hard and at least one national analyst feels that the big man will be a Wildcat.

If Kanter does indeed land at Kentucky, this may be a strong indication of how the recruitment of Terrence Jones will end.

I was told tonight by a recruiting analyst that 2010 point guard K.C. Ross-Miller may be close to pulling the trigger on his commitment.

Danny Lawhorn Commits to Connecticut

Connecticut continues to be in the mix with 2010 elite unsigned point guards such as Cory Joseph, Brandon Knight and Josh Selby. However on Tuesday they made a move on the recruiting trail that could be a very good insurance policy for future point guard depth by receiving a verbal commitment from a prep school point guard that is looking forward to following the footsteps of another NYC product.

“[I] committed to UConn,” Danny Lawhorn told NBE earlier tonight when asked about his current recruiting status. “[I] want to learn behind another NY guard…Kemba Walker.”

Buzz Williams' junior-college roots have paid dividends again, this time in the form of Jae Crowder of Howard College in Big Spring, Texas, who gave the coach's Marquette Golden Eagles their second oral commitment in the last four days.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Crowder chose MU over Baylor, Texas Tech and UNLV, and joins Philadelphia guard D.J. Newbill as the newest members of the Golden Eagles' 2010-'11 recruiting class.

With Thompson sidelined and Petrovic hobbled, Joseph scored 21 with 8 rebounds and had 2 chances to tie the game in the closing seconds. Senior Godwin Okonji had 14 and 6 rebounds. Junior Nick Johnson scored 10. Joseph was named tournament MVP.

Anthony Wroten Jr. Names 5 Schools

When elite 2011 guard prospect Anthony Wroten Jr made it known he intended to play football for Seattle Garfield High School this fall, eyebrows were raised. The concerns were realized when he tore his right ACL in the opening football game of the season. Now, the 6-foot-5 junior is back on the practice court less than five months after his September 21st surgery and Wroten is Hoping to Return to the Court This Season (Seattle Times).

Wroten Jr. told the Times that he is not close to making a college choice, but has a top five: Syracuse, Villanova, Connecticut, Tennessee and Washington.
